Description
Being able to discriminate visually is a skill that helps us to see subtle differences or similarities between objects or pictures. This important visual perceptual skill can also be described as “paying attention to detail” and is vital for reading, writing, and other school skills. Young children with poor visual discrimination skills may have difficulty matching clothing or socks or struggle to see the difference between similar objects. Older school-aged children may struggle with differentiating between similar letters and words (b/d, p/q, 5/S, car/cat) which can affect reading and writing skills. They may also struggle with spot-the-difference activities, maps and graphs, or other learning tasks that require attention to detail. These printables are geared towards younger children in the preschool- kindergarten grades to target these important visual skills and set them up for success as they continue in their education.
